The court also denied an injunctive relief request.

“I am pleased with the court’s ruling," Mayor Sylvester Turner said. "The city will move forward with sustainable pensions for our first responders and city employees."

The Houston Firefighters’ Relief and Retirement Fund released this statement on the matter:

“Today, the judge ruled on our lawsuit with the City regarding the constitutionality of SB2190. The judge ruled against our request for a temporary injunction and further ruled to dismiss the entire case.

“Obviously, we are disappointed with these rulings. Our Board will discuss options with our legal team and then make a decision as to our future efforts.”
