Woman pleads guilty to injury to a child by omission
HOUSTON – A woman accused of injury to a child by omission in connection with the death of a baby in 2013 has pleaded guilty, officials said.
Houston police responded Nov. 18, 2013 to a call at 8125 Mills Road in northwest Harris County and found a 5-month-old baby with serious injuries. The child was taken to Texas Children's Hospital, where she died.
Judy Marie Cedillo and Leonardo H. Pereira were charged with serious bodily injury to a child in connection with the death of Alyssa Cedillo.
Investigators said she suffered multiple fractures, bruising and head trauma.
A judge sentenced Cedillo to 30 years in prison, officials said.
Pereira was charged with murder, but it is unknown if he has been found guilty.
