Man shot to death outside apartment building in SW Houston, officials say

HOUSTON – A man returning to his apartment was shot to death right outside of his door Sunday morning, officials said.

According to authorities, Carlos Donaires, 33, had been out of town and returned to his apartment at the Houston West Lakes apartment complex around 12 a.m. at 7298 Kings Gate Circle when an unknown person confronted him outside his door. 

Houston police said the man and Donaires exchanged words before he was shot and the gunman left. 

Donaires died at the scene.

Police said they are hoping security cameras in the area will help them find the shooter.
