HOUSTON – A Jersey Village man said he was attacked in a bathroom at an Applebee's restaurant.
"I'm using the restroom and I'm still using the restroom and he pushes me forward," said Jose Trevino.
Trevino told KPRC2 he and a few friends went to an Applebee's, located on the 19800 block of Northwest Freeway, Saturday. All was fine, until Trevino says he went to the men's room and noticed another man followed him. After he pushed him, Trevino said the man then reprimanded him.
"He said, 'Hey, man. You didn't ash your cigarette properly. You ashed on the bar. You did not ash in the tray. That's disrespectful,'" Trevino recounted.
From there, Trevino said the attack continued.
"He jabbed me a good three, four, five, six times and one right in the eye," he said.
Trevino also said the attack left him with a chipped a tooth. After the attack, he walked out of the bathroom. The man who beat him, he said, returned to the bar.
Trevino said he yelled at the man, alerting the bartender that he had been attacked. The man who attacked him laughed, Trevino alleges.
"He's just laughing at me, laughing at my face."
Trevino says a bartender called 911. Around that time, the man who attacked him scrambled.
He filed a police report, but accuses Applebee's of giving him the run around when he returned to the restaurant for surveillance video.
"The manager who's there I've been told multiple times that he would actually be speaking to me and reaching out to me once they get to a certain point. I haven't heard anything," Trevino said.
Trevino says he'd like to make sure there's surveillance video of the man who beat him, hopefully authorities can get it.
Until then, Trevino said he will keep working, hoping to put all this behind him.
"It's not OK what he did. He took away more than just my tooth."
KPRC2 reached out to Applebee's for comment. The restaurant had not responded to the request as of Wednesday.
