HOUSTON – A Houston couple feel like they're driving in circles while simply trying to get paid for their work as drivers for Uber.
They say they've logged the miles but haven't received the cash.
"I worked, I think, seven weeks with Uber and I've only gotten paid one time," the wife said.
The couple -- who didn't want to be identified out of fear of being blacklisted -- say they started driving for Uber to earn money after being laid off from their jobs.
But when they went weeks without getting paid and tried to communicate with Uber through the company's driver app they didn't get far.
"We send an email, they send one right back," the husband said. "But it's the exact same generic answer. No matter how you word yours it comes back with the exact same notification."
His wife adds that they have had the same suggestion from Uber via email for weeks.
"Change your banking information, wait three to five days. Three to five days comes up? 'Oh you changed your banking information? Give us another three to five days.' Before you know it you've gone four to six weeks and you haven't been paid."
They say they haven't written off the company and would consider driving again -- but first they want to be paid.
Uber management in Houston said the following in an email to KPRC:
"The payments were issued to her bank where there appears to be a processing issue. Our operations team contacted the driver-partner and provided her with information that will help the bank resolve the issue."
