COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Investigators are looking into a case of vandalism at Texas A&M University after graffiti was found on campus.
Someone sprayed-painted a quote in front of Haynes Ring Plaza.
The graffiti reads, "RAPE IS INEVITABLE MAY AS WELL ENJOY IT - CLAYTON WILLIAMS."
Williams is a 1954 Texas A&M graduate.
The graffiti then has two arrows pointing towards the Clayton W. Williams Jr. Alumni Center building.
The wording is reportedly in reference to a well-publicized comment the Midland businessman made about rape when he ran for governor in 1990.
He reportedly attempted to make light of a situation by comparing rape to bad weather, saying "if it's inevitable, just relax and enjoy it."
Surveillance footage of the people responsible for the vandalism has been given to university police.
