Former Aldine ISD teacher sentenced to 60 days in jail for having sex with student

An ex-teacher at Nimitz High School accused of having sex with a student was sentenced to 60 days in jail and eight years of deferred adjudication.

Police said an investigation began after another student reported that she knew a student on one of the school teams was having a relationship with Eber Jaime Lopez, 36.

Investigators said they examined the 17-year-old student’s phone and found several sexually explicit messages, Facetime calls, and photos.

Officials said the relationship began in September 2015 and ended in January 2016 and that the two had several encounters at a local motel and in the coach's car.
