After being shot, paralyzed while working at Katz Boutique, expecting mother continues recovery

HOUSTON – The victim of an armed robbery at an adult boutique spoke exclusively to KPRC2 Thursday, in an effort to help catch the two men who shot her, leaving her to die.

"I am here and I'm fighting every day," said Paxton Webb, 23. Webb spoke to KPRC2 from a hospital in the Texas Medical Center.

According to Houston police, the armed duo went into the adult store in the 14700 block of Eastex Freeway on Christmas Eve, with their faces covered, and demanded money and property from Webb.

Webb said she did everything they asked, even helping to pull out the cash drawer and the safe. Police said she handed them the money.

They stole between $5,000 and $6,000, but didn't stop there.

"They went to the booth. They knew the code. I don't know how they knew the code," she said.

One of the men shot Webb in the back, an injury that left her paralyzed from the chest down.

"The bullet completely severed my spine, hit my lungs, missed my heart by less than a centimeter, fractured a couple of ribs and fractured my left shoulder," Webb said.

Webb was rushed to the hospital. Throughout the ordeal, she said never lost consciousness. It was at the hospital, according to Webb, that she discovered she was pregnant.

"I also found out in the emergency room that I was four weeks pregnant," Webb said.

The baby is well, doctors say. Webb considers the baby a miracle and is thankful for the support she's received from her family.

"This baby is a miracle. It shouldn't have survived it. I can't wait to find out what we're having and give birth. It's seriously what is keeping me going."

Investigators said they have no idea why the suspects shot her, which is why they want to find them before they hurt another person.
