3 dead, 2 injured in murder-suicide in Brazoria County, deputies say

Manvel, Texas – Brazoria County Sheriff's deputies said they are investigating a murder-suicide Sunday that left three dead and two injured in Manvel, Texas.

The shooting was reported at 1:32 a.m. in the 200 block of Oak Shore Drive.

Deputies said Muhammad Hasan Nawazkhan, 28, called and said that he had shot his wife. When deputies arrived, they discovered a him, Alexy Garcia, 49, and Carlos Antonio Garcia-Cerna, 30, officials said. Deputies said they all suffered from gunshot wounds. They said Nawazkhan's was self-inflicted.

Deputies also found Hawazkhan's wife, Lesley Paredes, 31, with a gunshot wound to the face, and Maria Paredes-Paz, 36, with a gunshot wound to the stomach, deputies said.

Paredes was transported to Herman Memorial Hospital by LifeFlight, where she remains in critical condition, deputies said.

Paz was released from Ben Taub Hospital with a non-life-threatening wound, deputies said.

Investigators said Nawazhan shot his wife in the head then called 911 to report it. When police arrived, they said he not only shot his wife, but three others and killed himself, police said.

One of the victim's daughters, Mitchelly Gomez, said her aunt's husband killed her mother.

"He was having marital problems and that was his solution and just so happened that my parents were (there)," Gomez said. 

Neighbors told KPRC2 they heard multiple gunshots during the incident.

"I heard gunshots, about seven or eight of them," Cindy Robertson said. 

Police said one bullet shot through a door and into the window of the house next door, but no one was hit.

Gomez said her and the family have to live on in there memory.

"My mom was a warrior and she was an extreme passionate person," she said. "This morning the world loss two incredible souls."
