Manager, neighboring police help nab car burglar, LPPD says

Dana Sublett faces charges

LA PORTE, Texas – When officials with the La Porte Police Department learned of a woman breaking into a car at a business on West Main Street, they couldn’t send officers out immediately, as they were attending to other calls -- but luckily, an on-duty Morgan’s Point officer was able to respond, police said Thursday.

La Porte police took the call just after 5 p.m. on Monday, according to a news release.

The break-in was happening in the 1400 block of West Main Street.

The officer with the Morgan’s Point Police Department showed up and found the suspect on the ground in the parking lot, with an armed business manager standing close by.

Dana Sublett, 42, was detained until La Porte police could arrive, officers said.

Sublett was accused of entering and damaging the interiors of three unlocked pickup trucks. The La Porte woman will face charges for the burglary of a motor vehicle, police said.

She was booked into the Harris County Jail.
