Dad's pistol fires accidentally, teenage daughter dies, police say

HOUSTON – Police in Houston are investigating what appears to be the accidental shooting of a 16-year-old girl, officers said Tuesday.

The incident took place about 1:30 a.m. Saturday at 4235 Oak Shadows, according to a news release from the Houston Police Department.

Investigators haven’t named the victim yet. She died before she could be taken to a hospital.

Homicide detectives said the girl was home with her father, and her dad was holding a pistol when it accidentally fired.

No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation continues.
