2 dead in collision between 18-wheeler, truck shuts down 59 highway Saturday morning

ROSENBERG, Texas – Two women died in collision between a truck and an 18 wheeler Saturday morning in Rosenberg, police said.

The collision happened on the 2800 block of the 59 northbound highway, at the intersection of Cottonwood Drive around 3 a.m., according to police.

Authorities said they are not sure how the black Chevrolet Silverado and the 18-wheeler got into the accident, but the impact caused two women sitting in the back of the Silverado to be ejected from the truck.

Marissa Rodriguez, 26, from Beasley, Texas, and Nicolette Huebotter, 24, from Richmond, Texas, were taken to the hospital, where both women died, police said.

The driver of the Silverado was taken to the Oak Bend Medical center, and the passenger of the Silverado was taken by life flight to Memorial Hermann downtown, and their conditions are unknown at this time, police said.

The man driving the 18-wheeler was also taken to the Oak Bend Medical Center, but his condition is also unknown, according to police.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the crash to understand what happened.
