FRIENDSWOOD, Texas – A road rage encounter between a driver and a pedestrian turned into a food fight and then ended in violence, police said Tuesday.

The situation started just before 2:30 p.m. Thursday, near the 500 block of Pine Bluff Drive, according to a news release from the Friendswood Police Department.

A driver turned onto Winding Way from South Friendswood Drive and passed by a pedestrian, who yelled at the driver to slow down and then threw some crackers at his vehicle, police said.

The driver stopped and confronted the pedestrian about what had just happened. That’s when the pedestrian dumped the entire box of crackers into an open passenger-side window of the vehicle, officers said.

The driver threw the crackers back at the pedestrian and then sped off, with the pedestrian clinging to the side of the vehicle before falling into a puddle of water, the release said.

Next, the driver continued heading to a worksite in the 500 block of Pine Bluff Drive. The pedestrian showed up in the area with a baseball bat and shattered the driver’s-side window of the vehicle, sending glass shards into the victim’s neck, arms and hands, police said.

The man also hit the body of the car with a baseball bat and shattered a back window.

A witness watched as the man got into a light silver or gray newer-model luxury SUV or crossover, police said.

Once he is identified, officers said he could face aggravated assault and criminal mischief charges. Both are felony offenses.
