Family unsatisfied with Christmas meal after caterer hands over messy platter

TOMBALL, Texas – For Claudia Matievic, it seemed like the perfect Christmas meal when she said she saw an online post for a local business preparing meals for the holiday.

She told KPRC 2, "I think it was like $50 and you got to pick from ham, Cornish game hen, a couple of different meats."

Matievic said she and her husband paid cash.

She said she started to get worried when it was time to pick up her meal.

"We started calling the 23rd, asking when we could pick up the food or if they wanted to deliver, because their Facebook posts kept changing."

She said the owner of the business in Tomball eventually told them to pick up the food on Christmas Day.

When they did, Matievic said, "There was food everywhere. It was all over. Nothing is covered. Nothing is stored properly. They hand him a ham still flowing with ham juice on a plastic fast food tray and say, 'here you go.'"

The business told KPRC 2 there were other unsatisfied customers.

But the owner said customers were offered refunds or even to remake their meals.

Matievic said the workers put the plastic food tray into a plastic walmart bag and sent them on their way. She said, "Ham juice actually soaked into it. The sides weren't what we ordered. It was a debacle."

The business claimed Matievic’s family was just upset they did not get their meal for free.

She said she simply wanted the Christmas meal she said she paid for.  She told KPRC 2, "Do a little bit more research. Because if something looks too good to be true, it probably is."
