SOUTHWEST HOUSTON – Four men broke into a closed Foodarama twice in one day on Christmas.
Exclusive surveillance video shows the thieves taking their time; they don't seem like they were in any sort of rush when breaking into the Foodarama on South Post Oak around 5 a.m. Sunday.
Salvador Perez, the store manager, said the men first created their own doorway in the back of the store through a wall.
He said it looked like they feared possible motion detectors, so they crawled on the floor.
The masked men made their way to the courtesy booth where the safe is.
They manufactured another entrance right next to the Miller Lite Coolers.
"I was surprised because I never thought it was something that was ever going to happen over here, you know?" Perez said.
While inside the courtesy booth, they fumble and rummage through any drawer they could open.
Later, they find the safe, but they were unable to open it. Then, they left the store empty handed.
However, the men were not discouraged.
"The second time they came in the same day at night, like around 11 p.m. and it was four guys, the same guys that came in the morning," Perez said.
The big gaping hole in the safe shows you the second time around, they brought the proper tools and sawed their way through it
"We know they took cash but at the moment we don't know how much they took," Perez said.
The thieves also damaged an ATM and a Coin star machine, but were unsuccessful in getting anything of value there.
