Man fatally shot during Offerup sale in SW Houston, police say

HOUSTON – Crime tape blocked off the entrance to a neighborhood park on Houston's southwest side Saturday, as Houston police searched for three men accused of shooting a man to death.

The shooting occurred after 3 p.m. in a parking lot in front of the playground in the 5900 block of Beaconridge Drive, according to Houston police.

The victim, whose name was not released, agreed to meet at least one of the men accused of shooting him, police said. He had arranged to sell an item to them he had advertised on the online classifieds website, OfferUp, according to police.

"Everything appears to be a legitimate sale. He was supposed to meet the buyer here. They arrived on foot and ran. So, it's believed they may still be in the neighborhood," said Sgt. James Rhodes, of the Houston Police Homicide Division.

Police said the man was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Detectives said they received a call from someone in the neighborhood that a man had been fatally shot inside a vehicle.

Police believe the three men accused of shooting him arrived on foot and ran through a park.
