Police said Gonzalez and his fiancé were driving in a silver Nissan on the freeway when the driver of a Nissan Versa came into their lane and hit the side of Gonzalez’s car.
Police said Gonzalez honked after he was hit and both vehicles pulled over. Gonzalez walked up to the driver of the Versa and an argument broke out, police said. The driver of the Versa told police that Gonzalez had a knife in his hand and punched him in the face, so he pulled out his gun and shot
Gonzalez once in the chest, police said.
Police said the driver of the Versa has a license to carry.
Police said the driver waited for police.
Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene.
No charges were filed at the time of the shooting.
The case was sent to a Harris County grand jury, which will decide if charges will be filed.
