HOUSTON – A couple recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in Pearland by posing for the wedding photos they never got to take.
Ferris and Margaret Romaine were high school sweethearts when they married Nov. 24, 1946, six months after Ferris returned from serving his country in World War II. The ceremony only lasted 15 minutes and no one in attendance had a camera, therefore no wedding photos were taken.

Ferris, 90, and Margaret, 89, live in Morgan City, Louisiana, but their youngest daughter, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren live in the Houston area.
One of the Romaine's grandchildren, Amanda Kleckley, told KPRC 2 that she arranged a photo shoot in Pearland with her friend Lara Carter of Lara Carter Photography in October.
"I felt like in this digital age, we are able to document every moment of our lives and sometimes take that for granted. I wanted my grandparents to experience the joy of looking at photos showcasing their special relationship, even if it was 70 years later!" Kleckley said. "I brought the props and Lara worked her magic taking pictures!"

Kleckley said the Romaines credit their long marriage to their parents; Margaret's parents were married for 64 years and Ferris' parents for 65 years.
"A simple life has helped to contribute to their good relationship and good health in these later years. They didn't have lots of money, but they had lots of shared values -- the love of children, a good work ethic, a strong faith in God and a sense of humor. They have always opened their home to all and numerous others who have lost their parents happily claim them as their own and Margaret and Ferris said that was a high honor!" Kleckley said.
The Romaines are young at heart in the digital age, and love to Facetime with their four children, eight grandchildren and eight grant-grandchildren.
Kleckley said Ferris enjoys working in his garden, mowing his own grass or meeting with his friends every afternoon for coffee. Margaret, who walked every day for 30 years, enjoys cooking, playing cards and having lunch with friends.
Congratulations to this beautiful couple!
