Woman facing charges for leaving 2 daughters home alone while she shopped, police say

HUMBLE, Texas – A 29-year-old woman has been charged with abandoning and endangering her two young children after leaving them home alone this weekend while she went shopping, police said.

Alexis Sloan was pulled over by Humble police for a traffic stop in the 10000 block of Humble Westfield Road about 9:15 a.m. Sunday.

The officer ran Sloan's driver license and found multiple outstanding warrants for her arrest. When the officer returned to the vehicle to place Sloan in custody, she asked to use a phone to have someone go check on her children, who were home alone.

Police said Sloan left her two daughters, 4 and 1, at home while she went shopping and to the bank.

Officers were sent to the residence to check on the welfare of the two children.

A Child Protection Services referral was made and the children were released to the custody of their grandmother.
