Man shot while attempting to break into neighbor's home

A man was shot by his neighbor after he was caught breaking into his home, according to deputies.

A 40-year-old man broke into his neighbor’s home on Cypress North Houston Road and Cathy Drive at 9 p.m. Friday in an attempt to steal various items, according to Harris County sheriff deputies.

According to another neighbor, it wasn’t the first time the man had broken into the other neighbor's home.

Deputies said the neighbor heard the man breaking in, so he got his gun and shot the intruder in the groin.

The man had to be taken by life flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital in serious but stable condition, according to deputies.

The owner of the home waited for deputies to arrive and was fully cooperating, deputies said.
