FBI, police look for man on the run in Houston in connection with Austin shooting

HOUSTON – Police are searching for a man in the run in connection with a shooting in Austin.

Investigators said he got away during a chase through west Houston.

According to officials, Austin police and FBI agents were serving a warrant Thursday night for the man, who lives in Houston. When they tried to take him into custody, he took off in a car, they said.

Officers chased him to Richmond and Westhollow, where he slammed the car into a pole and escaped on foot.

Agents arrested a passenger in the car on outstanding warrants that are not related to the shooting.

The FBI assisted in the case since Austin police are in a different jurisdiction.
