A picture is worth a thousand words

DEER PARK, Texas – Deer Park Police Department recently discovered that a heartwarming picture was taken of one of their officers.

Officer Del Wilcoxson was working an extra job at a track meet a few months ago. While he was walking around, he started talking to the young kids that were there. Before he knew it, the kids had gathered around him, asking him questions and even sitting on his knee.

Wilcoxson was unaware that anyone had taken the picture of him until it was sent into the department.

When he saw the photo he said, “This is how it is between police officers and our citizens 99 percent of the time, but unfortunately, some take the negative 1 percent and make claims that officers are prejudice and target according to race.”

He thought that the picture was precious and it touched him deeply that others thought so too.

Wilcoxson went on to say, “This picture is a true example of the relationships between officers and citizens within our community. A picture can say a thousand words.”

The Deer Park Police Department said that this picture shows the heart of one of their officers and that he continues to make them all proud.
