1 killed, several injured in fiery crash in Katy

KATY, Texas – One person was killed and several others were injured in a crash Tuesday on Grand Parkway west at Katy Freeway south.

Investigators said a driver, a man in his 50s, crossed lanes and was going the wrong way on the road just before 2:30 a.m. when he hit another car head-on. His car burst into flames and he was killed, police said.

One adult and three children in the other car were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, passersby helped the victims get out of the wreckage. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The road reopened just before 5 a.m.
