Police say boy shot himself with rifle
HOUSTON – A boy who police said accidentally shot himself Sunday night is in critical condition at a Houston-area hospital Monday afternoon.
The shooting happened about 9:25 p.m. Sunday at a mobile home park in the 300 block of De Haven Street.
According to Houston police, the boy shot himself in the neck with a rifle.
On Monday morning, police reported that the boy died at the hospital. By the afternoon, however, that had corrected the information, saying he was in critical condition.
Investigators said statements from witnesses indicate that the shooting was an accident.
No charges have been filed, but an investigation is underway.
