HOUSTON – A 49-year-old man is facing the felony charge of stalking after falling in love with the daughter of a self-help-book author.
Vince Kohl told police he fell in love with the woman while researching her mother. He also told police he was told to leave numerous locations after following the woman over the course of more than a year.

In June 2014, the woman told police Kohl attempted to contact her at her place of work, Living Proof Ministries. She said she never spoke to Kohl and didn't believe she had ever seen him before this time.
She also told police Kohl began to follow her Twitter posts, commenting on her posts. She also said he sent numerous emails to her workplace. She told police this continued for months and was still ongoing at the time the charges were made.
The woman said that on March 3, 2015, Kohl showed up at The Church Without Walls, at 5725 Queenston Blvd., and she again feared for her safety and thought Kohl would cause her bodily injury. She said Kohl was identified and told he was not welcome.
The woman told police there were numerous occasions when Kohl would show up to locations she was at and she did not know how he had found out she would be there.
On Oct. 19, 2015, Kohl was told to leave the City Church at 1204 Caroline St. after being identified by the woman he was stalking. The woman said she felt threatened by his presence.
Most recently, the woman said she was taking her dog for a walk at her apartment complex near downtown, Kohl was outside the gate of the complex when she exited. She said she immediately turned around and went back inside her complex and called police.
She told police she feels harassed, annoyed, alarmed, abused and tormented by Kohl's actions.
The woman's apartment manager told police he approached Kohl on Feb. 9 as he was outside the apartment complex screaming for the woman to take him back. The manager also told police Kohl had entered the office on July 18 and July 20 asking about the woman he was stalking. The manager told Kohl he was not welcome on the property and had to leave.
