Man shot to death at southeast Houston apartment complex

HOUSTON – A homicide investigation is underway after man was fatally shot at an apartment complex Sunday in southeast Houston.

Houston Police Department officials said Derek Pierre Lawton, 44, was at home in the Tierwester Village Apartments at 7812 Tierwester when person forced themselves into the residence around midnight.

Investigators said the person demanded to take the Lawton's property. The person fatally shot Lawton before leaving the apartment, police said.
