Police say man fired dozens of shots at apartments, vehicle after parking dispute

HOUSTON – Police said a man fired dozens of shots at an apartment complex on Monday.

Witnesses said the shooting happened around 4 p.m. and the man shot up an SUV and the apartment building from several angles.

Neighbors said this is the result of a parking spot dispute and the man who did the shooting lives at the apartment complex. The apartment he shot up is right next door and the tenant apparently put her white SUV in a spot where he likes to park.

"Apparently the next door neighbor is kind of like 'not so nice' about 'his' parking spot, which is a public parking spot," Thomas Mueller said.

There are at least 28 bullet holes in one apartment door.

The back bedroom windows and a sliding glass door were also shot up.

A couple who lives at the apartment, and owns the SUV, were told to leave by police after the man threatened to come back and kill them.

Mueller lives in this apartment complex and he said at first he heard 12 gunshots, one right after the other.

"Then I heard another 12 like a minute later and another round a minute later," Mueller said. "It's pretty scary. I'm still shaken up."

Kathryn Barr lives in the apartment next to the one that was shot up.

Dozens of bullets came through her wall.

She was sitting just inches away on her sofa.

"I am very lucky … it wasn't my time yet," Barr said.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

KPRC will provide updates when they become available.
