Truck barrels into, destroys home in NE Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A home in northeast Harris County was destroyed after a truck slammed into the side of it Tuesday morning.

"I just can't believe this happened. Everything is destroyed. We were just here for the holiday too," the homeowner's sister, Reva Booker, said.

A gaping hole, massive amounts of debris, pieces of drywall and wooden beams are all that's left of the home in the Cloverfield area after a white 4X4 pickup truck came barreling through the front of the home in the middle of the night.

"The speedometer showed it was going at 80 miles per hour. What are you doing driving through this neighborhood at 80 miles per hour?" Booker said.

The family of five -- two adults and three young children -- were home asleep around 1 a.m. when they said they heard a loud bang, and came out to find the truck in their living room and dining room area, practically on the back porch.

A red truck in the garage stopped the white truck from going through to their bedrooms. The family was not hurt.

"We're just so glad that no one was hurt," Booker said.

"It's such a quiet neighborhood. If it happened to them it could happen to us," neighbor Teresa said.

The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.

Officials said they don't yet know the exact circumstances of the crash, whether it was medically related, or the driver was under the influence.

We are also still waiting to see what charges Roberto Gutierrez could possibly face.

Gutierrez, 19, was taken away in an ambulance with some minor injuries.
