World's tallest uphill water coaster open at Schlitterbahn Galveston

GALVESTON – The world's tallest water coaster, Massiv, opened Wednesday at Schlitterbahn in Galveston.

The saying goes that everything is bigger in Texas, so why should it be any different when it comes to water coasters?

The slide is the longest in the park at over 900 feet long and 81 feet high, with two mega-drops.

"I love the technology that Schlitterbahn uses. It pushes you up so you never really stop," rider Cheryl Park said.

Massiv is equipped with safety sensors that cut the water off if you don't pass a sensor within a certain time. It happened twice to KPRC 2 reporter Jake Reiner.

If you actually have the privilege of finishing the ride, it can put a smile on any kid's face.

"It's my favorite ride compared to the other slides," rider Dalton Park said.

And it can make the manliest of men sound manlier.

If you're looking to ride Massiv, it's open for the rest of the summer season.
