HOUSTON – A father is in the hospital, in critical condition, after police said he was hit Wednesday by a suspected drunken driver in northwest Harris County.
Police said at around 11 p.m. the 53-year-old father was unloading equipment behind his pickup truck on Pine Cone and Sky View when the 21-year-old driver of a Nissan crashed into his truck.
The collision knocked the father to the ground, where he slammed his head on the pavement. His son, David Medina, found him lying in the street.
"I just seen my dad with a puddle of blood on his head, and I called the ambulance. They told me how to stop the blood and we just waited here," Medina said.
The man was flown to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.
"They picked him up and that's when he started crying, and saying there was a pain in his head. That's a good sign that he was talking," the victim's son said.
Medina said other witnesses chased the driver.
While trying to get away, the driver crashed into another truck, deputies said.
The man was arrested and now faces hit-and-run and possible DWI charges.
