Arrest made in shooting death of man at Baytown apartment complex

BAYTOWN, Texas – An arrest was made Wednesday after a man was shot and killed at an apartment complex in Baytown.

Kendall Banks Jr., 19 was one of five people detained and questioned after the shooting death of Angelo Singleton, 18.

The Baytown Police Department responded to a shooting at the Laguna Azul Apartments in the 1200 block of Northwood around noon Wednesday.  Officers said Singleton was found on the ground and suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

A resident of the complex told KPRC 2 News that she heard one gun shot. She said she and her parents walked outside to see what was going on and saw the man's body.

Police are investigating what led to the shooting but believe it to be drug-related.

Officers said Banks Jr. confessed to shooting Singleton in a revelation, which corroborated with several eye witness accounts pointing to Banks Jr. as the sole suspect.

The department has filed murder charges against Banks Jr.
