Deputies said a maintenance worker cleaning a rental space found a tub containing items of concern and requested the Sheriff's Office to investigate.

Deputies arrived and determined the item in question was possibly an improvised explosive device, which appeared to have been discarded or left behind by a previous tenant, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Precautionary measures were taken to evacuate residents from the RV Park while authorities addressed the removal of the items, deputies said. Galveston County Emergency Management responded to oversee the cleanup procedures and the Galveston Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the origin of the articles and substances.

There were no suspects listed by the Sheriff's Office.
