3 armed men rob auto finance store full of customers, including baby

HOUSTON – Houston police are looking for three men in connection with the armed robbery of a Houston auto finance store.

Surveillance video shows three men entering ANF Auto Finance store in the 6400 block of North Shepherd just before 4 p.m. March 3.

The store was full of customers, including a couple holding a baby, and investigators said one of the men blocked the door while police say the other two took money, wallets and cellphones from customers and employees.

They got away in a gray, newer-model Dodge Avenger, police said.

Police also said they counted a total of 40 seconds from the time they entered and the time they held everyone up at gunpoint.

Dana Schafer wasn't physically there on March 3rd, but he was still connected to the business - by telephone to a sales rep.

"It's not what you normally think of when you think about robberies, a car lot? c'mon," Schafer said. "I called back and he goes 'we just got robbed'."

The robbers are described as three black men in their 20s, all about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighing about 165 pounds.

"They were very nonchalant about going inside," Ken Nealy, of the HPD Robbery Division, said.

One of the men was wearing a blue baseball cap, a black coat and red high-top tennis shoes. The armed thief was wearing a red baseball cap, red or orange pants and white high-top tennis shoes. The third man was wearing a black coat, black pants and a fleece cap.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact the HPD Robbery Division at 713-308-0700 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
