Owner shot during robbery at A1 Dollar Store in southeast Houston

HOUSTON – The owner of  the A1 Dollar Store in southeast Houston was shot during a robbery Tuesday, according to officials.

Police received a call just after 10 a.m. about a robbery and shooting at the store in the 6100 block of Scott Street.

According to another employee who was inside the store at the time of the robbery, the gunman entered the store, demanded money, used a Taser on the owner and then shot him.

"He came behind the counter and threw me against the balloon gas tank and said 'give me your money,'" said Victoria Rubio who works at the store.

After she obliged, the suspect went after her boss, Piyal Ali, and Rubio says the suspect Tased him first.

"He pulled out a gun and shot him in his hand and legs," Rubio said.

Outside surveillance video captures the suspect running out, slipping, falling and then running back into the store. The store's video shows him inside because Rubio says he forgot his gun.

According to police, the store owner was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the hand. He is in stable condition.

Police are searching for thief, who they say got away with an undisclosed amount of money. They believe that someone might have helped him escape after he left the store.
