Carroll Oliver, slain McDonald's owner, honored by city of Houston

HOUSTON – While investigators continue to look for whoever murdered Carroll Oliver, Houston Mayor Slyvester Turner has dedicated this day to the community leader.

Mayor Turner says the proclamation is a tribute to Oliver's family and the community. It's a way of keeping Oliver's legacy alive.

"I, Slyvester Turner, declare today Feburary 16 as Carroll Oliver day in Houston, Texas." the mayor declared.

Oliver spent nearly 37 years as a McDonald's franchise owner. He was also the chaplain for the Fort Bend County Precinct 2 Constable's office.

Houston police are still looking for the three men who killed Oliver in front of his McDonald's restaurant on I-10 East near Lockwood on Jan. 11. He was shot during a robbery attempt as he was taking a deposit to the bank.

They believe the killers were in a white SUV captured on surveillance video.

A $50,000 reward is being offered for tips leading to their arrest.
