Deputies honored after daring fire rescue caught on video

Dash cam captures rescue

Two sheriff’s deputies whose dashcam captured them rescuing a woman from her burning mobile home last month were honored at Commissioner’s Court Monday.

Deputies Jesse Falcon and Natalie Wilson pulled a San Leon woman out of her smoke-filled home on Jan. 23 after they responded to the early morning fire.

Dashcam video from the patrol car shows the deputies going inside the home as black smoke billows out the front door.

“Just before becoming overwhelmed from heavy smoke, Deputy Falcon observed an arm in the back bedroom. Deputy Falcon grabbed the occupant and with the help of Deputy Wilson, the two were able to drag her to safety,” the county said in a news release.

Moments later the two emerge, pulling a woman from the fire.

The victim, a 64 year old, was taken to University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. She suffered burns to her back, arms and face and suffered from smoke inhalation, the release said. The two deputies were checked on the scene for cuts from crawling through broken glass and smoke inhalation.

Deputy Jesse Falcon is a seven-year veteran and Deputy Natalie Wilson is five year veteran of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. Both are assigned to the Patrol Division on B-Shift.
