HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man is dead and another man was injured in a shooting at an apartment complex Sunday afternoon in north Harris County, according to deputies.
Authorities responded around 2:15 p.m. to the Rock Creek at Hollow Tree Apartments in the 100 block of Hollow Tree Lane.
"I started hearing gunshots, and I have a 3-month-old daughter and a wife," David Erazo said.
He said the gunshots were so loud it sounded like they were inside his apartment.
"My first reaction was to tell them to get down, take cover and to cover my baby girl," Erazo said.
Investigators said two groups of men got into a fight and someone started shooting. Deputies said a group of men wearing hoodies fled.
"There were approximately four black males seen running from the scene shortly after the shooting. They got into a black Impala," Greg Pinkins, with Harris County Sheriff's Office, said.
A 40-year-old man died. A 28-year-old man was wounded and drove himself to a hospital.
"It was a real terrifying experience, not only for me but just the fact that my 3-month-old daughter could've gotten hit by a stray bullet," said Erazo.
The second victim was expected to survive.
Deputies said the black Chevy Impala was a 2004 or 2005 model and has gray tape on the driver's side back window.
