Consumer Alert: Shower rugs recalled

Rugs could make you fall

(KPRC)

Nearly 1.5 million supposedly slip-resistant shower rugs are being recalled because they can cause falls.

All Aqua Rugs with just four plastic suction cups, one in each corner, sold in beige or clear are included in the recall. The manufacturer, Tristar products, has received 60 reports of consumers falling in the shower or bathtub while on the rugs. Thirty injuries like cuts, even broken bones, were reported.

The recalled rugs were sold from July 2012 through September 2015 at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Dollar General and other retail stores. "AquaRug" and "As Seen on TV" are both printed on the cardboard packaging that the rugs came in.

If you have an Aqua Rug, you should stop using it and contact Tristar for a free replacement. You can reach them toll-free by calling 888-770-7125 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s website and click on “Aqua Rug Recall” for more information.
