Charges filed against man accused of sexually assaulting girl, 12, in pharmacy bathroom

Charges have been filed against a man police say sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl at a southwest Houston pharmacy when the girl got separated from her mother.

Christopher Michael Barillas, 27, has been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

The sexual assault occurred at a CVS pharmacy on Bellaire and Stella Link on Oct. 16.

According to documents, a mother and daughter were shopping at the store when the two became separated for a short period of time.

The girl said she was in the aisle looking at back scratchers when Barillas motioned for her to come to him.  The girl said when she approached Barillas, he exposed himself. The girl said Barillas then took her into the bathroom at the store and sexually assaulted her, then left.

The victim was taken to Texas Children's Hospital where an examination confirmed the sexual contact.
DNA samples were taken from the victim and a CODIS match identified Barillas, documents state.

Investigators also reviewed CVS surveillance video and saw a man matching Barillas' description on the footage.

"That is scary," said Darlene Murdock.

KPRC 2 stopped by his listed address, but the woman who answered the door says he doesn't live there. But she says she receives his mail.

"I see a lot of the mail comes from the police, I send it back to the post office," Murdock said.

Police records show he has a lengthy criminal history including charged for resisting arrest, trespassing, drug possession and theft.

Officers are still trying to find Barillas so they can arrest him.

Bond for Barillas was set at $100,000.
