HOUSTON – Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson and other law enforcement agencies Tuesday announced the arrests of eight alleged sexual predators in a sting operation.
The brief sting operation was conducted over three days last week from 12 p.m. to midnight each day, Anderson said.
"What's so alarming about that is that the predators know we're doing these (sting operations) and yet they continue to target our children," she said.
The men, ranging in age from 18 to 52, are all charged with online solicitation of a minor. They range from a student to a to a taxi driver to an unemployed man.
Men facing charges:
- Abraham Flores Arriaga, 52. Being held on $35,000 bond in Harris County Jail.
- Ryan Vinson, 18. Out on $20,000 bond.
- James Tierney, 47. Being held on $20,000 bond in Harris County Jail.
- Shah Hussain Tanveer, 39. Out on $10,000 bond.
- Syad Shah, 25. Out on $5,000 bond.
- Orantes-Manuel Fandialan, 30. Out on $10,000 bond.
- Damien Savannah, 36. Being held on $10,000 bond in Harris County Jail.
- Ricky Adamski, 29. Being held on $20,000 bond in Harris County Jail.
Prosecutors said Savannah, the taxi driver, allegedly agreed to pay $50 to have sex with an undercover officer's 15-year-old daughter.
Most of them found their victims through social networking apps and websites, according to investigators.
Authorities said many of the suspects brought items, including condoms and candy bars, with them when they thought they were meeting with underage teenagers for sex.
Investigators cautioned parents to be aware of what sites and apps their children are using. Anderson recommended using www.netsmartz.com to stay informed about apps that kids are using.
