Husband, wife killed in double shooting in northwest Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A husband and wife have both died after being shot at their northwest Harris County home.

The shooting happened in the 14500 block of Pelican Marsh around 11:45 a.m.

"I thought it was firecrackers because a lot of the kids crack firecrackers in the neighborhood," said neighbor, Theresa Matthews.

The man, who was 51 years old, was found dead in the living room of the home.  The woman, 49, was found lying in the driveway.  A revolver was found near her body.

Cy-Fair EMS arrived to find bystanders performing CPR on the woman.  Paramedics began to work on her and transported her to  North Cypress General Hospital, but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Neighbors said the couple was separated, but the wife had recently moved back in to take care of the kids.  Matthews says she believes police have shown up to their home in the past.

"They've had fights and arguments," Matthews said. "I thought it had calmed down a little bit and I thought maybe everything was okay."

Investigators said the couple had two grown children. The couple's teenage son was home at the time.

Harris County Sheriff's deputies would not confirm Wednesday afternoon if the wife shot the husband and then killed herself, but they say one of the family members is responsible for the shooting.
