UTHealth officially changes name to McGovern Medical School No description found
HOUSTON – The UTHealth medical school made a major announcement Monday, officially changing its name. The school is now called the McGovern Medical School.
The name change was made after the McGovern family gave a $75 million donation to the school.
UTHealth says the tremendous gift will be used to provide a series of scholarships, and support the staff, scientific and clinical research for many years to come.
This is the largest donation in the history of the medical school. The president of UT Health says the university receives a very small portion of state funds so to keep Houston a world leader in medicine they now rely on these private donations.
