London's Oxford Christmas lights switched on earlier than ever

LONDON –  Halloween is over and now we can all look forward to Thanksgiving.

In England, however, they're already counting down to Christmas.

Australian singer Kylie Minogue kicked off the holiday season in London Sunday by headlining the annual lighting of the Oxford Street Christmas lights.

Thousands of fans were on hand as Minogue, who is releasing a Christmas album this year, pushed the switch that lit up the streets.

It's the earliest that the lights in this section of London have been switched on for Christmas.

That's a move some on social media have criticized.
