NEW YORK â Bretagne (pronounced Brittany), the last known surviving 9/11 rescue dog from Ground Zero celebrated her Sweet 16 on Friday.
Bretagne, a retired search rescue dog from Cypress, helped in the search for survivors during some of America's deadliest disasters.Â

She was deployed as part of FEMA's Urban Search and Rescue group, Texas Task Force 1 in the days following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
For Bretagne's 16th birthday, New Yorkers decided to have a daylong celebration at a classy Central Park hotel. According to the Today Show, he reclined on soft beds, ate a gourmet burger, rode around in a vintage New York City taxi, and played with several new toys.
In 2014, KPRC 2 reported that Bretagne retired from her work as a search dog in 2008 and started working with the Cy Fair Volunteer Fire Department helping school kids learn to read by listening.
