Amazon expands Prime video downloads and other consumer news

HOUSTON – Amazon is adding a new perk for Prime members.

Amazon Prime members can now download movies and TV episodes to iOS and Android devices for offline viewing. The option does not cost extra. That means Prime members can now enjoy their shows in places with no Internet connections, including flights.

Meanwhile, Apple is getting into the drone business. The tech giant is now selling drones made by DJI in the Apple store. The Chinese company is the world's largest consumer drone manufacturer. The DJI Phantom 3 model starts at $999 and can stream aerial footage to YouTube in near real-time.

And good news for anyone planning a fall vacation. Airfare prices are almost 10 percent lower than the same time last year. According to airfare prediction app Hopper.com, this is the best time of year to book holiday flights. It could save travelers up to $250 per ticket.
