Houston rapper accused of child molestation arrested

HOUSTON – Calderon Texada, 27, is an aspiring Houston rapper, but also an accused child molester and a fugitive.

He was arrested Saturday, according to Crime Stoppers of Houston.

Police believed he used his music to taunt them as they search for him.

Texada was charged with indecency with a child in 2014 for the Oct. 2013, sexual assault a 16-year-old girl. According to court records, Texada was arrested by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force after failing to meet with a detective investigating the case.

He's accused of abducting the girl while she was walking to school in the 3500 block of W. Gulf Bank Road and then taking her behind an apartment building in the 5100 block of W. Gulf Bank, where he allegedly sexually assaulted her before throwing her out of his car.

Prosecutor Daniel Werlinger said Texada disappeared from a county courtroom while waiting to go before the judge at a court hearing in June of this year.

"When the docket call is made and his name is announced by the court, the other defendant who's on another unrelated case stands up for him and says,' Ma'am he went to the rest room, he told me he would be right back,' and that was over a month ago," Werlinger said.

Even on the run from police, Texada continued to promote his musical career through social media. Police believe he was thumbing his nose at them with lyrics from a 2014 rap song posted on YouTube.

"It's pretty clear as day he directly taunts us to come get him. That he knows he's supposed to be on bond and with us. He doesn't care. Point blank rubs it in our face and say come get me," Werlinger said.
