Delta charging for seat assignment; Target tests new delivery program; New TV ad-skipping model

HOUSTON – Delta Air Lines is starting to charge more markets for seat assignment.

The airline first started offering basic economy tickets in 2013, but has expanded the program to about 500 markets. The expansion is expected to continue. Tickets are about $20-40 cheaper than regular economy tickets, but don't come with a seat assignment until after check-in. Basic economy ticket holders are the last boarding group and get no frequent flyer miles.

Target is testing a new program to try and drive up online sales. The retailer will start giving customers a more specific time of when they can expect their delivery. Right now, they give a window of four days for when the product will arrive. Under the new program, shoppers will get a one-or two-day window.

One network is testing whether viewers prefer a long, interactive commercial to the traditional advertisements interspersed through a broadcast. Gordon Ramsey's streaming show on Fox's website is testing the new program. The option is available this week. The catch is that viewers will have to actually interact with the longer commercial, so advertisers will know that they paid attention.
