Man accused of opening fire on officers arrested

HOUSTON – A man who eluded police after a chase through two counties Saturday was found and arrested.

Ebeniser Morones, 36, was detained by the Gulf Coast Violent Offender Task Force at about 8 p.m. Sunday. at the Mustang Inn in the 3800 block of Tidwell.

Officials said they believe Morones opened fire on an officer during a pursuit with the Montgomery County Precinct 4 Constable's Office.

The pursuit ended in north Harris County at Delman and Wedgewood Streets.

Officers arrested three people, but Morones was able to get away.

Authorities said they found a rifle, pistols, ammunition and 43 grams of heroin and methamphetamine in the vehicle.

Investigators said Javier Alquicira, who was believed to be the driver, was charged with attempted capital murder and evading arrest. Candis Colby and Sarah McCoy were charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance.
