2 children safe after boyfriend attacks, kills mother with machete, deputies say

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – A man is accused of killing his girlfriend with a machete outside their New Caney mobile home.

It happened Thursday night in the 24000 block of Farm-to-Market Road. When deputies arrived on scene, they found Michelle Becker, 33, bleeding in her front yard.

"She had lacerations everywhere. he stabbed her with a screw driver, a wrench and something else," said neighbor Megan Klingbeil.

According to deputies, Becker's two daughters, ages 7 and 8, saw the entire incident unfold. Klingbeil says the girls came running to her mobile home screaming.

"They said, 'My mommy's bleeding! Please help her!'" Klingbeil said.

John Dee Weter Jr., 34, was gone by the time deputies arrived on scene. They found him and a machete a short time later in a white Kia at the Overall's Grocery parking lot off US-59. He surrendered right away.

Becker was taken to Kingwood Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Neighbors say she and Weter had just moved to the recreational vehicle park a couple weeks ago from Austin. Weter has a long criminal history involving drugs, drunken driving and theft.

Becker's daughters were sent to Child Protective Services on Friday, where they talked to counselors. According to Estella Olguin, of CPS, they are now in the custody of their biological father, who lives in Austin.

Neighbors in the RV park plan to set up a GoFundMe account to raise money for the children.

Becker is behind bars, charged with murder.
