DAYTON, Texas – A 4-year-old boy boy drowned Saturday at the Nine Mile Ranch water park in Dayton.
The Liberty County Sheriff's Office said it received a call about a missing boy. About 30 minutes later, deputies said that family members found his body.
"I heard the sirens blowing through and I thought here we go again," Jary Noack said. "It's another one drowned."
The boy went missing just before 5:30 p.m. His parents started searching for him and others held hands and walked through the 3-inch deep lake until they found him.
The boy was pulled out and given CPR, but deputies said it was too late.
"It's a muddy pond," Noack said. "If his head goes under, no one sees him."
Noack said he spoke with a relative of the boy as she was leaving the water park.
"The worst thing that could ever happen in life is lose a child," Noack said. "I don't know what I would do."
Deputies are still investigating, but said it appears to be a tragic accident.
